Whitfield & Brown delivered the Eldon Street Supported Living development in Preston for RWP (Reside with Progress). This purpose-built scheme provides modern, high-quality accommodation designed to support vulnerable adults to live independently within their local community.
Located in a central Preston setting, the development comprises 14 well designed supported living apartments created to offer comfort, accessibility and long-term durability. In addition to the self-contained apartments, the scheme includes a spacious communal lounge and a dedicated community space, providing residents with safe and welcoming areas to socialise, take part in activities and access support services.
External areas were fully landscaped to complement the building and promote wellbeing, while off road parking has been provided to support staff, visitors and operational needs. Together, the internal and external facilities create a secure environment that encourages independence while fostering a strong sense of belonging.
Collaborative delivery
The success of the Eldon Street project was driven by close collaboration between Whitfield & Brown, RWP and the wider consultant team. From early design discussions through to final handover, all parties demonstrated professionalism, expertise and a shared commitment to delivering a high-quality supported living facility.
The combined input of the architect, quantity surveyor and engineer ensured that every element of the development was carefully considered, including layout, materials, structural design and the overall experience for future residents.
Creating spaces with purpose
Supported living developments require an approach that goes beyond traditional construction, with a strong focus on functionality, accessibility and long-term usability. Eldon Street achieves this through practical layouts that support daily living, the use of modern and energy conscious materials and the provision of communal areas that encourage social connection.
These design choices help create a comfortable and secure environment for residents, while also supporting sustainability and long-term value for the client and the wider community.
Community impact
The Eldon Street Supported Living development represents another successful addition to Whitfield & Brown’s growing portfolio of supported living schemes. It reflects the business’s ongoing commitment to delivering facilities that make a meaningful difference to people’s lives and provide lasting benefit for local communities.
As the completed building is handed over to RWP, Eldon Street stands as a strong example of what can be achieved through skilled teamwork and a shared purpose to deliver high quality supported living accommodation.
