The development comprises 13 one-bedroom homes and 5 two-bedroom homes, each designed to provide safe, modern and well laid out accommodation. All apartments benefit from private parking and onsite electric vehicle charging, supporting accessibility and encouraging more sustainable travel choices for residents. Tenants were welcomed into their new homes shortly following completion.
Responding to local housing need
Salford has seen a sustained increase in demand for secure and affordable housing, with a significant number of households waiting for suitable accommodation. White Lion forms an important part of the response to this challenge, delivering high quality homes that enable people to remain within their community while accessing long term, affordable tenancies.
The development was supported by £1.3 million of Homes England funding together with £270,000 from the Brownfield Housing Fund, enabling the transformation of a previously unused brownfield site into a vibrant new residential environment that will provide lasting benefit for local people.
Collaborative delivery
White Lion was delivered through strong collaboration between Whitfield & Brown, ForHousing and the professional team. Whitfield & Brown brought forward the initial package deal to ForHousing, assembling and leading the design team to support the successful development of the scheme from the outset. Working closely with the architect and engineer, the project team created an attractive and sustainable development that enhances the local streetscape and aligns with Salford’s wider regeneration ambitions.
A collective focus on quality, efficient delivery and clear communication helped to ensure the scheme was completed to a high standard, providing homes that are durable, functional and fit for long term occupation.
Community impact
Beyond the delivery of new homes, White Lion has created wider positive outcomes for the local area. The project supported job creation during construction, contributed to neighbourhood regeneration and provides a long-term supply of genuinely affordable housing for Salford residents.
Delivered during Salford’s centenary year, White Lion represents a meaningful investment in the city’s future. The development reflects Whitfield & Brown’s ongoing commitment to building communities, delivering quality housing and working in partnership to achieve positive social impact.
