Egerton

South Egerton, Skelmersdale

Whitfield & Brown have been appointed by Tawd Valley Developments, the development company wholly owned by West Lancashire Borough Council, to deliver a new residential scheme at South Egerton, Skelmersdale.

This project represents our seventh site in partnership with Tawd Valley Developments, reinforcing our strong working relationship and shared commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable homes across the region.

Project Overview

The development comprises the construction of 6 no. three-bedroom houses, providing much-needed, high-quality affordable homes for the local community. The scheme has been carefully designed to respond to the surrounding residential context while making efficient use of a previously vacant and underutilised site.

Design and Layout

Designed by DK-Architects, the development features a terrace of two-storey homes arranged to create a cohesive and well-defined streetscape. The layout has been developed to maximise natural surveillance, improve local connectivity and create a safe and welcoming environment for residents.

The scheme includes:

  • A new shared surface access road serving the development
  • Parking provision for new residents alongside re-provision of parking for existing local residents
  • Clearly defined private and public spaces to enhance usability and security

Quality and Placemaking

The homes are constructed using robust, high-quality materials, including facing brickwork and modern detailing, ensuring durability while complementing the character of the surrounding area. Careful attention has been given to architectural detailing and proportions to create a scheme that is both contemporary and contextually appropriate.

High-quality landscaping forms a key part of the development, with green frontages, planting and boundary treatments used to soften the built form and create an attractive living environment.

Sustainability

The development has been designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating energy-efficient construction methods and building fabric improvements to reduce energy consumption and support long-term environmental performance.
