Delivering Essential New Learning Spaces for Liverpool
Whitfield and Brown is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the contract for the expansion of Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School. This important development will support the growing needs of the school community and create high quality learning environments for current and future pupils. The project reflects our continued commitment to delivering educational facilities that are modern functional and built with long-term flexibility in mind.
A Thoughtfully Designed Two Storey Extension
The scheme includes the construction of eight new classrooms that will provide much needed additional capacity for the school. The design features a two storey extension that is future ready with the structure planned to accommodate a further storey if required. The new building has been carefully designed to integrate seamlessly with the existing school so the finished development maintains a consistent architectural character across the site.
Sustainability at the Heart of Delivery
Sustainability forms a central part of the project brief and the design includes a range of energy efficient and environmentally responsible features. The extension will benefit from energy efficient heating systems with underfloor heating that is fully future proofed for low carbon heat pumps. Hybrid natural ventilation with heat recovery will support improved indoor air quality and help reduce overall energy use. Native tree planting and hedgerow improvements will contribute to biodiversity net gain across the site. Resource efficient materials and full compliance with Building Regulations Part L will ensure strong thermal performance and long-term operational efficiency.
A Collaborative Team Approach
The project will be delivered in partnership with a highly experienced professional team. Arcadis will act as Contract Administrator supporting quality and compliance throughout delivery. Architectural design has been led by 10architect and engineering expertise is being provided by WML Consulting. Procurement has taken place through the Procure Partnerships Framework which supports best value efficient procurement and high standards across all stages of project delivery.
Supporting Educational Excellence for Over 1,400 Pupils
The expansion will enhance the learning environment for more than 1,400 pupils and will support the Archdiocese of Liverpool’s long-term vision for education excellence. The new facilities will provide bright modern spaces that enable staff and pupils to thrive and will ensure the school is well equipped to meet future demand.
Looking Ahead
We are proud to be delivering this important project and look forward to sharing progress as the development moves forward. The scheme represents another step in our ongoing commitment to high quality education construction across the region.
