Whitfield & Brown delivered the refurbishment of the health spa and swimming facilities at Stockport Grand Central, creating a modern spa and leisure destination that enhances the overall visitor experience within Stockport’s primary town centre leisure complex.
The works were delivered in carefully planned phases to allow the centre to remain fully operational throughout the project, including the continuation of school swimming sessions and public use. Phase one involved the full strip out of the existing health suite, followed by the installation of new changing facilities, a hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room, aromatherapy room and associated mechanical and electrical upgrades.
Phased delivery within a live environment
Phase two focused on the refurbishment of open leisure areas to create a contemporary and welcoming environment. This included the introduction of a new children’s fun pool and the installation of water slides to improve family‑focused facilities, complementing the existing 50‑metre swimming pool.
Throughout both phases, close liaison with Stockport Council, Life Leisure and centre staff was essential to ensure safe segregation of works areas and uninterrupted operation of the wider facility.
