RIGBY COLLEGE

Whitfield and Brown were appointed to construct a new Sports Hub for St John Rigby College on the site of a former field where an old brick and slate store had recently been demolished. The project delivered a modern single storey sports building that provides a gym changing facilities four classrooms a café and a large glazed foyer that opens onto paved terrace areas. Site access was through the main college entrance which required careful planning to maintain safe public routes around the works with temporary hoardings installed to protect staff students and visitors. The building features a steel frame structure with single ply roofing to lower levels and a mono pitched upper roof. The entrance lobby and café areas were completed with Kawneer glazed curtain walling to create a bright welcoming environment that enhances the campus setting.
