Whitfield and Brown carried out refurbishment works at Cedar House within the grounds of Chester Zoo to provide additional office accommodation for the organisation’s expanding operational team while ensuring daily activities continued without interruption. The site sat beside live animal houses which all remained operational and Cedar House itself stayed occupied throughout the programme. This required phased decanting clear communication and careful planning supported by detailed method statements risk assessments and strict traffic management controls. The works were delivered across multiple zones to maintain safety and minimise disruption. Completed over a sixteen week programme. The project showcases Whitfield and Browns ability to manage complex refurbishments in sensitive live environments through close collaboration with Chester Zoo consultants and other contractors.
