Whitfield and Brown were appointed by the Northwest Reserve Forces and Cadets Association to construct a new one point five million pound headquarters building at Altcar Training Camp in Hightown. The camp is a major national facility used by regular reserve and cadet units for military and civilian training across extensive coastal and dune environments. The two storey building was delivered on a design and build basis with Paddock Johnson Partnership AA Projects The Davies Partnership and Curtins Consulting forming the wider design team. The new headquarters provides open plan office space meeting areas and amenities across both floors. Designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating the building incorporates piled foundations a steel frame precast concrete floors a sedum roof and an external façade of facing brick cladding and glazing to create an efficient modern and visually appealing facility.
